More pictures of the Imperial Palace and it’s surroundings. I like how these pictures tell how Japan changed overtime and became more westernized, but at the same time keeping in touch with their roots. For instance, the one with the old fashioned architectual style building versus the more modern style building with the tree at the center of the picture. With this picture, it somewhat symbolizes how a tree’s lifespan (generally speaking) may see, experience and go through the many changes of the world. Hence, the old meets the new. Think about it…enjoy!

FERTILITY FESTIVAL: “THE MAIN SHRINES”-Shinmeisha and Tagata-Shrine.

In this slide are pictures from Shinmeisha and Tagata-Shrine. According to our handout, Tagata Shrine is situated in the village of Ajioka Aichi prefecture. Tagata means Rice Field country.

It is that the festival is centered at a procession were it starts at a shinto shrine in the neighborhood.

The first few pictures were taken at Shinmeisha and the others, towards the end were from Tagata-Shrine.

.Fertility Fest.

This weekend we travel to Nagoya, Japan for the Fertility Festival. The spring festival is performed annually on March 15 of the solar calendar.
This is a festival in which the Japanese people pays a visit to the shrine of the fertility gods to ask or pray for the blessings of fertility, which can be blessing to bear children, prosperous marriage, wealth, success and good luck.

To some it’s also known as the ”penis festival”.

Here are some photos from the fertility Festival.

This first set of photos were taken on the way there and at the “Female Shrine”. According to our guide, we had to pay a visit at the Female Shrine first before we headed on to the main shrine. This shrine was quite serene, peaceful and had a great view.

Tokyo Escape

So, my husband and I went out to Tokyo for one of our random adventures on Friday night. Our mission was to go shopping at H&M, F21 and all the lovely stores at Ometesando Hill until he decided to take a different route. With my husband making that choice, we missed our exit and one thing lead to another. We were kinda lost. From time to time, we kept seeing the lights from the Tokyo Tower, teasing us and telling each other that someday we should go up there. Spontaneously, we decided to go up there that night, since it was getting late and the store was going to close soon. I was excited and loved the random rushes. We got up there, and it was wonderful. The lights, the buildings, the city itself. It’s one of the places where you actually have to be there to see it. It was extraordinary and [sigh] oh so great. No words can express it. I just love it and I love how it wasn’t planned.

Here we post some pictures from that night.

This last set is mostly a random mixture of pictures taken after the walk through the Imperial Palace.

The pictures of the buildings were just to show how in Japan, a simple building can be as tall as the end of the sky. Since, it’s a pretty small country with thousands and thousands of people, a simple building can be made for residence, supermarkets and malls all boxed into one. You never know, you’ll be surprised.

As for the statues of the naked ladies, this can mean anything for anyone. Sadly, I’m not sure exactly what it’s about but just to say, a little birdie told me that here, they are pretty open about their sexuality.

Lastly, the last three pictures were taken around the train itself or the train station. No matter where you go, (to me at least) seems like the people are constantly moving here. Especially in the deep heart of Tokyo, where it can get very very crowded, leaving you feeling so tired afterwards.

Greetings. Today, I shall give you a taste of Japan’s Imperial Palace. These were taken on January 2, 2010 when the Emperor and the people celebrated and welcome the New Year. The Imperial Palace only opens twice a year to the public; the 2nd of January every year, as a welcoming celebration of the New Year and on the 23rd of December for the Emperor’s birthday. So I’m very excited about this. WELCOME 2010, shall we? (I apologized for this late post, I’m about a month late, but it’s okay, better late than never right?)                                 So let’s go…..

I chase sleep.

Lately, I tell myself that I’m going to sleep early at night. It never happens. Today, I’ll slowly start and make that change.
